From the Great Porcelain Houses of the World collection is this stunning Aynsley China collectible thimble from the Danbury Mint collection - now discontinued. Bright and colorful with hand-painted gold bands near the crown and at the bottom of this thimble.
Aynsley made only this one thimble that they sold in limited quantities to the Danbury Mint's collection named, "The Great Porcelain Houses of the World" in the 1980's.
Aynsley is one of the best-known names in the Staffordshire Potteries, with a history reaching back to 1775. Aynsley was founded by Master Potter John Aynsley. Throughout much of the twentieth century, Aynsley remained a family firm, producing high-quality traditional wares while experimenting with modern shapes and designs. Today, their reputation for producing only the finest quality one china is still evident in every piece. Aynsley has been honored to supply specially commissioned dinnerware to royalty, governments and companies all over the world. Queen Victoria, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and his Royal Highness the Prince of Wales have all chosen Aynsley bone china for their homes.
Aynsley and Sons, Ltd, was originally located in Longton, Staffordshire between the years of 1864 -1971. Aynsley is now part of the Waterford Glass Co. Ltd., It was purchased by the Aynsley Group PLC in1987, who then purchased the names and patterns of Hammersley China Ltd,, and Palissy Pottery Ltd. 1989.
This bright & cheerful collectible thimble is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. It measures 1" x 7/8" and is marked AYNSLEY CHINA ENGLAND on the inside of the thimble. This thimble would be a beautiful addition to your fine china and porcelain collectible thimble collection.
