The Royal Adderley studios are located in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, the heart of England's pottery making district. Royal Adderley's roots trace back to 1789 and a small pottery owned by Mark Walklate, in Daisy Bank, Spring Garden Road, Longton.
The company began to prosper when William A. Adderley became actively involved in its operation - since 1876 it has borne his name. Under Adderley's direction, the firm established a tradition of individualized handcrafting which gave all its wares a distinctive look.
In 1947, Royal Adderley incorporated with the Royal Doulton Group. When these two companies merged, each brought their own distinctive style and standards of excellence., and both continued to employ their own artists and craftsmen.
To this day, the Royal Doulton Group encourages its artists to search throughout history to re-create the best period styles and designs in ceramic art. These skilled artists painstakingly employ 18th century hand-crafting methods to mold and decorate bone china flowers, flower-encrusted bowls, and small, specialized gift articles.
This collectible English vintage bone china thimble measures 1" x 7/8" wide and is backstamped on the inside with ROYAL ADDERLEY, FLORAL, the Royal Adderley flower logo, BONE CHINA and MADE IN ENGLAND.
