Antique TRIPLE Silverplate Creamer Pitcher from The Hard White Metal Co. has features galore from 1886! Ornate applied silverplate floral handles attached to a full bodied creamer, this triple silverplate creamer has scored wide panels along the top edge and scored lines along the waist and body.
Victorian style spout features a floral and leaf design on both sides and a decorative scroll with flower supporting the creamer's ornate spout. Dark patina with substantial silverplate wear, especially on the inside, this piece could use a good silver replating.
There are moderate wear marks such as small dings and scrapes along the sides and along the top. The triple silver plate creamer top edge seems to be out of round, although this would be a quick and easy fix for a silversmith. The bottom of the base shows the area with the MOST amount of silver plate still remaining, but there are two small dimples near the base.
Antique The Hard White Metal Co. Triple Plate Silverplate Creamer measures almost 4-1/2" high, 5-1/4" from tip of spout to tip of handle and is 3-1/2" diameter at its widest. It weighs 10 ounces.
White metal is an alloy, usually containing two or more of the following elements: tin, copper, antimony, lead and bismuth. The resulting end color depends on whether the tin or the lead predominates. The more tin the whiter the color. This is the base of this creamer pitcher, which was then triple silver plated (three layers of silver).
The silverplate creamer pitcher is touch marked THE HARD WHITE METAL Co, TRIPLE PLATE, SHELTON, CONN, and the pattern number 2612. Above the Hallmark is FA121L 8.23 '86.
